Nissan Formula E Team Scores Points in Shanghai Ahead of Tokyo E-Prix

Nissan Formula E Team continued its ABB FIA Formula E World Championship campaign by scoring valuable points during the Shanghai E-Prix weekend despite challenging weather and changing track conditions. Nissan views Formula E not only as a motorsport programme but also as a key innovation platform for developing electric mobility technologies. 

Experience gained in battery systems, energy management and electric powertrains contributes to the development of the brand's future electric road cars.

Heavy rain affected Oliver Rowland's qualifying performance in Shanghai, while Norman Nato faced a difficult weekend after penalties forced him to start from the back of the grid.

Following setup changes ahead of the main race, Nissan Formula E Team showed improved qualifying pace. Although changing track conditions created further challenges, Rowland benefited from a well-timed pit strategy in the closing stages to finish eighth and secure valuable championship points. He also recorded the fastest lap to earn an additional point.

With four races remaining in the season, Nissan Formula E Team is now preparing for its home event, the Tokyo E-Prix, scheduled for July 24-26. The team aims to deliver a stronger performance in front of its home crowd.

Nissan entered Formula E in the 2018/19 season as the first Japanese manufacturer to compete in the all-electric championship. The company has also confirmed its participation in the GEN4 era through 2030, reinforcing its long-term commitment to electrification and electric motorsport.
