The Charging Sector Quickly Keeps Pace with Rising Electric Vehicle Sales!

The rapid growth in the electric vehicle (EV) market over the past two years has also brought about a historic momentum in charging infrastructure. According to data from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), as of August 2025, there are a total of 33,592 active charging sockets in Turkey. Of these, 14,308 are DC (fast) and 19,284 are AC (slow). During the same period, the number of electric vehicles registered for traffic reached 310,668, recording an increase of over 100% compared to the previous year. Hakan Koca, General Manager of Ovolt & Sharz.net, described Turkey's rapid development in charging infrastructure as “a period where digital transformation converges with energy.”

Alongside the current development of the electric vehicle market, Ovolt & Sharz.net General Manager Hakan Koca made important assessments about the ultimate position of the charging sector, stating, "This picture shows us that Turkey has become one of the most dynamic countries in Europe in the electric vehicle market. It is expected that the total share of hybrid and electric vehicles, which will make up approximately 27% of the automotive market in 2024, will exceed 30% by the end of 2025. The locomotive effect of domestic manufacturer Togg, along with the aggressive entry of American (Tesla) and Chinese brands (especially BYD), are among the main drivers of this growth, and this competition is bringing new dynamics to the sector."

Koca also highlighted noteworthy developments in the energy infrastructure sector, stating, "Under the Ministry of Industry and Technology's ‘Fast Charging Infrastructure Support Program for Electric Vehicles,’ support was provided this year for 529 new fast-charging units across 81 provinces. Within this scope, approximately 300 million TL of the 1 billion TL investment was announced as a grant. Furthermore, thanks to YEK G-certified ‘green charging’ points, significant steps are being taken towards the widespread use of renewable energy at stations. As an investor company, we find this very valuable." The goal is 1,000 sockets by 2026 Ovolt & Sharz.net General Manager Hakan Koca described Turkey's rapid development in charging infrastructure as “a period where digital transformation meets energy”: "The electric vehicle ecosystem can grow not only through increased vehicle sales but also through user experience and reliable infrastructure. At Ovolt & Sharz.net, we currently operate with over 570 sockets. Thanks to our strategic partnership with OPET, we aim to reach over 1,000 powerful (high-capacity) sockets by 2026, creating the most accessible and reliable charging network for every segment."

Koca also emphasized that the most important factors determining the future of the industry are access to charging speed and energy efficiency: "As important as the widespread adoption of charging infrastructure is the fair and efficient distribution of fast charging (DC) stations. User confidence, price transparency, data sharing, and sustainable energy use form the backbone of this transformation." Ovolt & Sharz.net aims to simplify the user experience through a mobile app that tracks availability, transparent pricing, 24/7 technical support, and charging points powered by renewable energy. Furthermore, it aims to elevate the industry's security standards by combining the electric vehicle charging experience with IoT-based alarm systems, camera surveillance, and OPET gas stations with 24/7 staff, along with remote monitoring and insurance-backed protection infrastructure for Customer Satisfaction and Safety. “The transformation in charging infrastructure will change our entire lives.” With Turkey's electric vehicle fleet exceeding 310,000 and approaching the 500,000 mark in the coming period, the charging sector is now positioned not only as energy but as the backbone of sustainable transportation. Hakan Koca concluded his speech with the following words: "For us, charging infrastructure is not just a transformation of mobility but of life itself. The transformation in charging infrastructure will change our entire lives over the years. Ovolt &Sharz.net aims to continue being the reliable backbone of this transformation.”
